If you've been watching my posts you'll notice the pink of these gowns match the previous shoe paintings. These were two of the lovely young women in the bridal party.

This was another view of the bride's shoes, sitting on one of the banquest tables where she plopped them down.

We have two wonderful nieces. One of them was recently in a wedding of her best friend, Sarah. We've known Sarah since she was about 13. She made a beautiful bride in her traditional white gown. Hidden under the lacy trim were these fabulous pink heels.

Boy, was this a challenge. I had so much fun with the vivid red in the plaid that I couldn't decide if it was too competitive with the subject. Needless to say, I left it. Love red.

It's been a long, paintless week. We had two art commitments back to back and I was cooking for both. I used every spare minute starting last Monday. I think I eeked out one small painting over that time. It was nice to be back at it.

I almost painted the tulips again today. I thought (f0r who knows what reason) that I should resist and do something very different. This little guy was in the local pub with his folks. No one was paying him the least bit of attention. I really like the flesh coming out of the dark background.

Anyone tired of my tulips yet? Not me! I'm loving moving all these colors around. I'm actually thinking of doing one at 20x30. We'll see.

I'm fascinated by how abstract this becomes the more vantage points I paint from. I no longer think of it as flower and floliage. Even the glass presents differently.

These flowers are beginning to feel like old friends. I really planned to paint one of the large plates today but life got in the way. Actually, with spring here it's hard to steal time away from the weeds. We shall see.

It's interesting that painting the same subject from a different vantage point is like never having seen it before.

I'll really miss these guys when they're gone.

This was one of those days when the juicy paint just did everything I wanted. It was almost sinful it was so much fun.

You would think that the more familiar one becomes with the subject the easier it would be to render. Maybe for some, but certainly not for me. This triple stem arrangement tormented me. I also struggled with having the background fabric be so bold but I just couldn't force myself to subdue it.

This is really the first day I've felt like painting. It's so weird when you get in a funk like that. It's almost like the the tools of the trade become strangers. I got so excited when I was done I gessoed 8 20x30" canvases.....

I'm now making a concerted effort to go back and forth between the small pieces and my old, larger format. It's really nice to see these plates with flowers on the scale I first intended.

My painting day was short today. We had to deliver work for a show coming up in May. Just when you think you've endured it all you come up against something new. Two of my favorite paintings were sent back home with me because they didn't like the color of the frames. My large pieces are all framed exactly the same except the color. That I pick depending on the piece. Too weird for me.
