'Oh Henry", oil on masonite, 6x6" nfs

This was a commision portrait of magnificent Mr. Henry. It was a joy to be asked to do this piece. I hope the family will be happy.

It's so interesting to watch the herd. This buck is big and bold. He postures in a way that makes everyone, including us, know who is really in charge.

Our pasture/yard has been invaded by these creatures. They're so beautiful but so distructive. The herd grows every year. I think we are up to 23....

I said this would be back. This is a wonderful 18lb companion at our house. The earlier version just didn't get the size/weight issue correct. This is much more my "little Ollie"

These are the most majestic cows. However, they spend so much time with their snouts in the grass, attending to their girth that it was difficult to get images with their heads up.

The brambling mass in the background is wild blackberries. We curse them in our gardens but they add a nice backdrop for the paintings!

"Sniffing for Truffles", oil on masonite, 6x6

This was such an odd angle that I had to keep stepping back to be sure I had an animal and not total abstraction. In the end it seemed to be a bit of both.

"Once a Kitten", oil on masonite, NFS

This is one of our 5.5 cats. It is NOT a good likeness. I will try again.

"Tres Leche", oil on masonite, 6x12

This was interesting to do. It is similar to a previous image but was painted with a paint product new to me. I just visited and toured M.Graham's facilty in Hubbard, Oregon. I used only their paint except black and white. I failed to bring those back with me. I must say, they make an amazing product. The tubes are so saturated with color that I continually used too much paint when mixing. Once one gets the hang of it this high quality paint should go much further than their competitors. The tinting strength is amazing.

These are my new, favorite critters. They have the same great color and girth as the black and whites but now there's texture!

"Floats", oil on masonite, 4x10"

I thought these cows looked like they were floating on green clouds rather than walking through grass.

"Another Fine Dining Experience", oil on masonite, 6x6":

I've been very hesitant to paint these guys. They are so magnificent on their own I thought it pretty risky. You'll probably be seeing more of them. Fun for me, trouble for you.
